Why Women in Lebanon Are Turning to AI for Pregnancy Support

Around the world, AI is starting to make pregnancy care more accessible. The following example highlights why Pregnancy AI believes so strongly in the power of supportive AI for parents.
AI helps pregnant women ask private questions
A study by BMC in Lebanon looked at how young women use AI for intimate and gynecological questions. In many parts of the Middle East, topics like periods, PCOS, vaginal discharge, and contraception can feel too sensitive to ask about, even in a clinic.
Researchers surveyed 525 women. Many were already using AI for:
- Menstrual problems
- PCOS
- General pregnancy questions
The main reasons were privacy, avoiding embarrassment, saving time, and having an immediate place to ask the questions they felt too shy to raise in person. At the same time, accuracy and the lack of physical examination remained concerns, and real clinicians were still seen as the final authority.
The authors also identified a smaller group of heavy users who relied on AI for multiple concerns at once, including mental health related support. This pattern showed that AI is not being used casually, but as a meaningful support tool in a health system under pressure.
This matches how we view AI at Pregnancy AI. It is a safe starting point. A place to ask anything without fear of judgment. A tool that can guide, support, and reassure, while always encouraging medical care when something feels wrong.
Why these stories matter to us
AI is helping women in moments when:
- Care is far away
- Clinics feel intimidating
- Questions feel too personal
- Late night worries feel overwhelming
This is exactly why we created Lola, our AI midwife. She is designed to be warm, calm, and available at any hour. She explains symptoms, gives guidance, and helps parents feel more confident while always encouraging them to seek real medical help when needed.
At Pregnancy AI we are proud to be part of that future, one conversation at a time.
